3 Secrets from an International Connector

Technology evolves and there are new ways to communicate with your audience/clients. But, there are a few practices that never go out of style.

I have worked in different areas of Marketing, and what I enjoy the most is building communities and engage with audiences: in person during events, via different online channels or in a virtual environment.

"To connect with people, you need to listen to them first. That would be my golden rule." - Wendy Garcés

Once, you are ready to invest time and sources to go the extra mile. It's important to understand how you can strength your connection with different stakeholders. And then, start engaging conversations with your audience and/or potential customers.

My work as an international connector involve an active participation with different stakeholders, and areas from the organisation, for example: Marketing (Social Media, Events, Partnerships), Public Relations, even Sales and Finance.

Today I'm sharing with you my 3 Top Secrets as an International Connector:

1. Connect with important contacts.

"Your network is your net worth" - it's the most valuable source to start your business with. Why? Because talking with other people would help you to speak about your ideas and receive valuable feedback, exchange opinions, get good introductions to other interesting people.

Yes, sometimes it could sounds risky to share your plan with others, but at the end ... when you are taking the risk, you can gain useful information about sources, programmes, from other people experiences.

And remember, this is a win - win relationship! Offer some help to your connections, and be open to dialogue or exchange contacts. There is nothing best, that building strong and honest relationships around your business. If for some reason, you don't have the time or personality to work on this task you can always hire a connector to make this step easier for you and your business.

2. Find new ways to connect with your customers/audience (online).

If we talk about attracting or growing audiences, you may think of social media. There is always a new tool that you can use to talk to your audience, the more creative the bigger response or at least that's why most of the people think.

But, there is a big difference between gaining followers and engaging with your audience. That's when you need to ask yourself and of course in conversation with your marketing, and sales team to define the profile of your ideal customer.

Don't feel overwhelmed about being present in all social media channels; if you are starting a business select only 2 social media channels, and remember you can always change your mind and explore new ways to interact with your audience.

3. Educate, don't sell (use a distinctive personal approach).

What would you like to be remembered for? When connecting with people we are building relationships based on trust and credibility. People would remember you for what you are good at, and how you care about their needs.

Sharing is caring! Connect with your audience by sharing useful information with them, build a strong relationship with them, and make those interactions memorable. Create content to attract and educate people, make them curious about your brand and values. Nowadays people make more conscious decisions and they want to know the organisation they are purchasing a service or product.
